Puja & Chas

No Comments Beauty, Wedding

One of my favorite, most interesting weddings I’ve ever worked on was an American/Indian wedding a few years ago. The bride, Puja, was half American and half Indian, and the groom, Chas, was American.

Very ambitiously, they had two ceremonies in one day; the catholic ceremony in the morning in a church, with the traditional white dress and soft, pretty makeup for the bride and tuxedo for the groom.  Then after a couple hours break, they had a Hindu ceremony at a nearby hotel. The colors were amazing; the bride wore a red sari with amazing jewels and everyone wore bright, beautiful saris. Naturally the eye makeup was darkened significantly to match the wardrobe change for both the bride, her mother and her sister.

The entire family couldn’t have been nicer or more wonderful to work with. I always smile when I think of what a beautiful day that was and what an honor it was to be a part of it!  I would love the chance to work on more weddings like this one!

Get Your Skin In Shape!

Beautiful skin is absolutely the best accessory any day of the year, but on your wedding day its even more important!  Its always best to start your skin regime a few months before your wedding day, especially if its something new for you and its not something you’re already in the habit of doing.  Regular facials and a daily skincare regime can make all the difference in the appearance of your skin and have you absolutely glowing by your big day!  I’m a huge fan of the Clarisonic skin brush and I think its the best thing for gently exfoliating the skin and letting your natural glow come though, and it also allows any treatment products you use to absorb into skin more deeply.

If you’re interested in more thorough treatments like facials, Dermalogica is a great place to start and their Soho location has many different options that will get you and your wedding party ready and radiant for your big day!

Sweetest Proposal Ever…

No Comments Wedding

This video has been making the rounds and has gone totally viral (I think its up to three million plus views on YouTube!) and its one of the sweetest proposals I’ve ever seen.  I always get a little teary-eyed when I watch it.  Also, it was filmed in my hometown, Portland, Oregon, which just makes me love it even more.  (It’s amazing how familiar the streets look, even though I haven’t been there in ages!)

Presumably you’ve already been proposed to if you’re here, but we can always use a little inspiration and sweetness, right?  Enjoy!

Philadelphia Wedding Cover

I was thrilled to work with Philadelphia Wedding Magazine recently for a shoot that was all about the stunning backs of wedding gowns, showcasing how beautiful they can be.  They were so happy with the images that they decided to make one of them the cover shot!  The cover shot is below, along with my favorite images from the story.  They were a wonderful team to work with and I hope that I have the chance to create more beautiful images with them again soon!

Stefanie & Bricklin: A Tuesday Afternoon at OHEKA

No Comments Fashion

Stefanie is a stunning blonde from Germany who was referred to me by a photographer friend, Sebastian Smith, who photographed the wedding, although he usually works in fashion.   The intimate wedding of 40 guests was took place at OHEKA Castle on Long Island, but somewhat unusually, on a Tuesday.  OHEKA can apparently accommodate smaller weddings on weekdays if their schedule allows.

Stefanie was a delight to work with from the start and I really enjoyed chatting with her during her trial and learning about how she and Bricklin met.  She wanted natural makeup which was easy to do on such someone so naturally beautiful!  It was a treat doing the makeup in such a lovely setting as OHEKA and getting a limo ride back to the train was an added bonus!

Best of luck to Stefanie and Brickin on their life together!
